The Uncommon Wisdom of Oprah Winfrey A Portrait in Her Own Words. New Jersey: Carol
Publishing Group, 1997.
The main idea in this book is to share Oprah’s life from when she was a child to 1997 by sharing her quotes to tell the story. She says, “I knew I was going to help people, that I had a higher calling, so to speak”. She said this after she had a conversation with her grandmother when Oprah was worried about dying one day when she was four. It also says that when she was a few weeks into kindergarten she wrote her teacher a letter saying “Dear Miss New: I don’t think I belong here”. So she got moved from first grade to third grade because she said, “I couldn’t stand to be bored”. There is no author in this book. There is no bias because it shows good and bad sides of her. This source could be used to help figure out the good and bad about Oprah at a young age. This source helped us understand that Oprah did not not confess a lot of things until she was much older.

Speaking in churches groomed her and was the bedrock for her future success." Another thing that shaped her from a young age was her grandmother. It says, "Grandma Hattie constantly instructed Oprah to pay attention and how to do household chores." Her grandmother was a large influence on her life. There is no information available on the author at this time. The key bias in this article is against Oprah Winfrey.
